Lori Casillas has been a Program Officer at the Buell Foundation since September 2014. She evaluates grant requests and serves as an ambassador for the Foundation and its trustees to organizations and communities across Colorado. As a thought partner to grantees and prospective applicants, Lori provides support to help propel and sustain their mission-driven work.

For 24 years through an equity and inclusivity lens, Lori has worked for organizations committed to supporting the well-being of children and families. As a nonprofit executive, she has overseen strategic planning, staff development, communications, fundraising and financial management. Previously, Lori served as a statewide director for a health coverage initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation where she led partnerships with state and local governments and organizations to improve access to Colorado’s most vulnerable families. Most recently, she oversaw health and mental health strategies and funding for Denver Great Kids Head Start at the Office of Children’s Affairs for the City and County of Denver.

Lori earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and psychology from Amherst College. She was born and raised in the border city of El Paso, Texas, where her family still resides. She is bilingual and raising a bilingual daughter with her educator husband in north Denver, and together, they love to travel, enjoy the elements and try different cuisines from around the world. She is a founding member of LatinasGive! and is a board member for the Healthy Teen Network in Baltimore.
