EARLY CHILDHOOD LEADERSHIP PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT
In May of this year, the initial commitment to build and implement the
Buell Early Childhood Leadership Program will have been
accomplished. In five successful years of implementation, 100
fellows have moved through the program to strengthen their own leadership
skills and create change in the early childhood system across the
state. In order to allow adequate time to plan for the next phase of
leadership development, the Buell Foundation has decided to suspend BECLP
funding for 2012-2013 academic year. In the coming months, the
Foundation will reflect on the project's impact and the key insights
gained from implementation to discover how to be most responsive to
Colorado's early childhood system needs going forward. The Buell
Foundation commends the outstanding work of the program alumni and current
fellows, the faculty, and the design and management teams who all have
shown an unwavering commitment to promoting positive change for young
children in Colorado. Susan Steele, executive director of the Buell
Foundation, states, "It has been an honor to work alongside such a
dynamic group of leaders committed to Colorado's youngest children, and I
look forward to discovering how we can build upon the lessons that we have
learned to ensure greater impact as we move forward into our next
phase."
