Like early childhood educators nationally, Colorado’s ECE caregivers experience low wages and often lack benefits provided in a typical job. This taskforce examined these challenges, creating salary scales and recommendations to remedy these challenges.
The Colorado Early Childhood Compensation & Benefits Taskforce Report includes Colorado’s first ECE salary scales, which are linked to base starting salary of a kindergarten teacher. Having this information will allow Colorado to cost model and work towards improving wages when additional revenue is found. The report looks at additional ways to improve compensation, including stipends, health insurance, paid time-off and retirement benefits.
