Celebrating Home Visiting Week’s Inaugural Year

Published on Apr 25, 2025

In recognition of the first-ever National Home Visiting Week (NHVW) from April 21-25, 2025, we shine a light on the incredible work of Colorado home visitors who support families and children where it matters most—right at home. From early childhood development to parenting support and health education, these everyday heroes walk alongside families, helping them grow stronger, healthier, and more connected.

The Institute for the Advancement of Family Support Professionals, an organization focused on strengthening home visiting and human service programs across the country, collaborated with nonprofit partners and elected officials to organize the event. NHVW garnered bipartisan support as U.S. Senators Chuck Grassley (R–Iowa) and Mark Warner (D–Virginia) issued a proclamation to highlight the importance of home visiting.

Making Home Visiting Week official in Colorado, Governor Polis issued the proclamation for it on April 10, 2025.

  • Home Visiting Investment Task Force Information: The Home Visiting Investment Task Force, on which Lesa Nesbit, Buell Foundation Senior Program  Officer, Supervisor, is a member, was approved by the ECLC on April 23, 2020 to develop a strategy to scale a continuum of home visiting services in Colorado and guide the release of the future funding solicitations from the Office of Early Childhood, including Federal MIECHV funding. The strategy supports planning for state budget requests, the solicitation of new federal funding opportunities, and alignment with philanthropic funding for home visiting.

The task force released a Home Visiting Investment Task Force Annual Progress Report  in October 2024 that is available here.

The last full week of April is now officially reserved for National Home Visiting Week for years to come to celebrate and recognize home visitors and the positive impact they make on maternal and child health outcomes.
