Rupal Shah joins the Buell Foundation as a program officer in May 2017. Before joining Buell, Rupal held several positions in grantmaking and fund development. Most recently, she was a grants manager with the Department of Interior/Bureau of Reclamation where she oversaw funding opportunities related to water and drought management.
Prior to her federal experience, Rupal worked for more than seven years at grantmaking organizations in Denver, CO and Seattle, WA. Specifically, she was a grants manager at the Colorado Health Foundation where she oversaw the grantmaking operation for this foundation’s healthy living portfolio. In addition, she was the grants manager at Thrive Washington, an intermediary organization focused on early childhood education in the state of Washington. There, she oversaw a large portfolio of home visiting grants to various organizations in Washington and served on the cross-organizational team managing the home visiting services account for the state. In addition, to her grantmaking experience, Rupal served on fund development teams focused on supporting domestic violence and financial literacy programs.
Rupal earned her Bachelor of Science in Management form the Scheller School of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology and her Master of Public Administration from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University. She enjoys the outdoors, traveling, hiking, reading, knitting, volunteering and spending time with family and friends.
